Catching up with the gang

So were heading into the last stretch of the season. Not over by any means but were getting to the last part of the season. Updates have been a little slow here so sorry for that. We have some new pics that will be coming up soon and also some news on the 2010 season.

Thanks to all the supporters for what they have done for Brian and the team this year.

California was a tough one no doubt. Michael was doing great but got taken out, that is part of racing and although it is never fun it happens.

Looking forward to next weekend and continuing the rest of the season strong.

Atlanta

Here are a few shots from Atlanta from thehotap.com, I'll have more updates on the race and how it went down later this week. The team is getting ready for the upcoming weekend in Virginia!

Battle over the Border

It was Brian Keselowski's first road course debut and it was a tough one for sure. Having never been on a road course Brian did his best to get the # 26 2XL/Fischer Honda car around the track without incident and he got out there for qualifying. Unfortunately mechanical problems took Brian out of the race early but Michael McDowell who was running 4th in practice in the # 96 Dodge had a decent qualifying run and during the race was as high as 4th place driving a car that was originally built for a speedway! Brakes were heating up but he held on tight, despite a last minute spinout that put him back to 28th position Michael took the K-Auto Dodge back up to 11th position within the last 20 laps.

Congrats to the team for qulifying and running 2 cars at Montreal!

Fists of Fury

So we got a new shirt just to head to Canada.

The ones that the crew guys will wear does not have the signature on the front.

So when we say they are limited I mean we are only going to produce 5 of these babys and they are first come first serve and will NEVER be printed again.

The first 5 emails I get will be able to buy one. They are going for $50 each and in addition to the printed signature on them they will come with a free pair of 2XL headphones!

Bristol Update

It was another great weekend for the KAuto crew. Heading to Bristol we had high hopes of a top finish and Michael McDowell came through with a 10th place finish for the team. Brian once again serving as crew chief for his car had good experience going to Bristol and they knew what they had to do to get the car is a great qualifying position. After starting 19th Michael drove the car hard up to a 10th place finish.
Congrats to the crew once again for a strong finish.

Twitter

OK, so we're gonna try some Twitter action here.

Our Twitter page is http://www.twitter.com/kautomotive

We will only be Twittering or tweeting or twitterin' (however you want to say it) during race weekends or perhaps if someone happens to get trapped under the team hauler during the week. (long story)

Tune in and see how we handle the twitter action!

Mass Update

So man has it been a busy month. Things have been going from crazy to crazier and now things are getting better every day!
Here is an update on what has been going on.
Going into Gateway it was some tough decisions for team owner, driver and mechanice Brian Keselowski. The car had been doing really well but the team needed to be in the top 30 in owners points. Brian was struggling to get everything done himself so he made the decision to put Michael McDowell into the car -http://www.mmcdowell.com/. Brian had already talked with Michael about running the two road course races for the K-Automotive crew and the opportunity was there for Michael, who lost his ride due to sponsorship to jump into the 26 and continue his chase for a top 10 season standing.

Michael jumped into the car with Brian at the helm of crew chief and the combination seemed to be explosive as Michael qualified the car in 9th position and finished in 8th place! A great day for the K-Auto crew. This moved the car well into the owners points and set them up for the road race at Watkins Glenn.
Moving on to Watkins things were looking really well, a late race spin out by the car ahead of the 26 put a little damage to the car but Michael still finished 27th after starting 19th.
Moving on to Michigan!
In front of the home crowd, the K-Automotive crew under the leadership of Brian Keselowski decided to attempt to qualify 3 - yes 3 - cars for the Carfax 250 at MIS.
Running the cars for the K-Auto crew would be Michael McDowell in the # 26, Veteran Dennis Setzer in the #96 and our good old boy Willie Allen in the # 92.
All three drivers stepped up and qualified their cars without a problem! A huge feat for a team of our size. In front of the home crew Michael drove the # 26 2XL Dodge to a 17th place finish.
Heading now to Bristol with Michael behind the wheel again the team is looking forward to moving Michael up in the overall standings as well as making a chase for the Rookie of the Year contention!
Here are some shots from the races as posted on www.thehotlap.com

Catching Up with Brian

Sorry, the updates are a little behind here. The team has been busy as ever as we headed into the last few races. After Kentucky Brian and the crew went down to pick up 2 new cars and got to work on them to get ready for New Hampshire.....but first on to Milwaukee where they had a pretty decent run going and finished just outside the top 30.
From there the team went to New Hampshire where the new car was up and running however the old saying "thats racing" came into play when the motor overheated despite one of the strongest qualifying runs Brian has had all season.
Brian and the crew headed down to Daytona after an exhausting week on the road going from race shop to race shop, everyone was pulling out all the stops possible to keep things going and Brian barely missed the qualifying for Daytona race last weekend.
The team is staying positive and heading to Chicago this weekend with both the 26 and the 96 car the team is looking to bounce back and get the momentum from the beginning of the season going again.
Thanks again for all the fan support and we'll see you in Chicago!

Kentucky Notes and News

Kentucky here we come........and here we go!
Well it was a great weekend as far as the weather goes, what was thought to be a weekend of thunderstorms and rain turned out to be pretty nice. Unfortunately that is where the nice ended. Racing is racing but the team stayed focused and strong throughout the weekend. Brian was running really well in practice and the car was doing great. In the second practice session however Brian cut a tire somewhere on the track and going into turn 3 at 180mph the car spun around and hit the wall HARD! Brian was uninjured but the car was unable to be repaired. Forutnately for us we have good friends in the garage and the 81 team of McDonald Motorsports let Brian use their backup car for the race. The team busted their tails to get the car prepped and ready within time for inspection and qualifying but we did it. The group really showed team work and pulled together to get the job one.
Since Brian was locked into the race on owners points he took it easy on the qualifying run since it was not his car and started the race in the 41st position.
As the green flag dropped Brian did his best to race a car with a seat that just barely fit and a car that he had never driven before. Hanging on he drove his best but unfortunately without being able to inspect the car properly there were some brake problems that forced him to retire early. Sitting in the 35th position was where he would have to settle for the race.
A big thanks to all those who helped this weekend. We'll see everyone in Milwaukee!

One of them is the right rear quarter panel with "Go Wings" on it and the other is the right side of the car with the # 26, 2XL and contingency stickers on it.

I'll try and have the pics up today of the car but here is the shirt.

Nashville # 2

So who says you have to have a perfect season anyway, right?
Althoug Nashville is actually a fun track for Brian, he likes going there because of his history with racing there, it has not always been a cooperative one for Brian but he has always managed to hang in there and do his best. Well this time unfortunately the track got the best of Brian and due to a mechanical failure the car shot straight to the wall and tore up the right side pretty good. Luckily Brian was unharmed but the Go Wings Dodge was unable to get back on the track. This happened around lap 145 or so, with only 7 or 8 cars on the lead lap Brian was setting up to get a pretty solid position in the top 20 or even top 15 with all the wrecks that were going on. Fortunately since he ran a strong race, as high as 11th I think, he was able to finish the race in 30th position which was enough to keep the car locked in the owners points and advance Brian another spot to sit in the 22nd position in the drivers points.
Luckily also the car was not the one that Brian is racing this coming weekend at Kentucky so we have some time to get it fixed.
Keep on Truckin' and at least on the good side the Wings shut out the Penguins 5-0 to take the series lead at 3-2. Go Wings!!!

Hockeytown Game 2

As a gesture to Brian for his support of the Detroit Red Wings Brian was invited to game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals in Detroit on Sunday. Driving all the way back from Dover on Saturday, Brian got what little sleep he could and headed out to the game.

A big thank you to the Illich family, Steve Viloletta and Rob Mattina for being such gracious hosts.

Wings are gonna take it in Game 5!

Dover Dover its over!

Well the trip to Dover was great! On his first attempt at the Monster Mile Brian qualified way down in the pack at 39th position and once again proved why we call him the bull by working his way up that pack, staying on the lead lap and finishing with a strong 16th place besting some of the top drivers in the series even beating KYLE BUSCH..........ok so Kyle was winning the race on the green white checker and cut a tire but still it looks good on paper right!
Everyone needs to give Brian a big props so far this year for doing the job he is doing. Dover is a tough track, all cement and it worked over some pretty good racers this past weekend but Brian stayed strong and kept it going.
Also sporting the Red Wings graphics helped I think!
As the Wings were unfortunately taken down by the Penguins last night they will go to game 5 on Saturday which means Brian for ONE MORE TIME will be sporting the Wings graphics on his car to show the dedication to the Wings!
Look for the car at Nashville this weekend, Go Brian and Go Wings!

Heading to Dover

Once again since the Wings are now in the Finals Brian will give his favorite team another shot of fan appreciation with his version of the practice jersey.

Updated Car Pics

So the official release is out. Read Below:

Official Release from K-Automotive

May 21, 2009

Today K-Automotive is officially releasing the images of the limited graphic car for the Lowes Motor Speedway race the weekend in Charlotte NC.

Through a joint effort by the Detroit Red Wings Brian will be running Detroit Red Wings and Hockeytown Graphics at Lowes Motor Speedway this weekend

K-Automotive, with its operations based in Pinckney Mi and having strong Motor City roots decided to show its Detroit Red Wing pride with the Red Wings jersey inspired graphic scheme.Brian Keselowski is a huge Red Wings fan and he could think of no better way to show his support than by running the graphics as Detroit takes on Chicago in the Western Conference finals. Making the graphics a bit more interesting is the fact that Brian is heading into Carolina Hurricane territory, knowing very well that if Carolina beats Pittsburg and Detroit off’s Chicago they will face each other in the Finals. When asked if it bothered him going into Hurricane territory with a Red Wings car he responded simply “Go Wings!”

Look for a lot of post race press on the Official Red Wings site soon as well as some more pics of the car.

Article on NASCAR.com

Here is a great shout out to Brian on NASCAR.com this week. It is on page 2 of the main article about the All Star Shootout.

http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/opinion/05/19/road.ramblings.drodman.600/1.html

Sneak Peak for Lowes Motor Speedway

I'm going to keep a little quiet on this one so we can make sure the real deal stays under wraps but this weekend the K-Automotive team is heading into enemy territory!!!!

Heading to Carolina, home of the Hurricanes Brian will be running a special graphic scheme this weeknd to get the crowd into a fury. All I can say so far is "Hey Hey Hockeytown!"

Oops Talladega

So as I walked into the shop the other day I was harrassed by the crew for not putting up an update on the Talladege race. I corrected them and said there is NO WAY that I would have missed that update since it was the best race for Brian this year. They must be wrong right? Quickly I pulled up the site on my Blackberry(R) and........oops! How in the world I forgot to update on one of Brians greatest races so far. Was I just to excited or to busy getting ready for the next race!!!
So here is the official "late" update on the Talladega race.

Brian ran with the front runners pretty much the entire race, super strong and ran like a true top ten finisher. As we all know the last corner in the race on the last lap is a tricky one and with Brian running 9th coming around the last turn the drafting race began. When the flag was waived Brian ended up 14th after starting 17th and got hs bonus points for leading a lap!
There were some crazy wrecks and Brian stayed clean the entire race so great job Brian even though we were a little late here getting this out.

Darlington Round Up

Wow what a trip.

First I want to thank Jeff Hurst and the crew from Hurst Boiler for helping out with the team this weekend. Probably one of the best group of people I have met in a long time and I hope we see them in Atlanta! If you need industrial Boiler work go check them out.

So we had a bet going with Brian that if he came out of Darlington without hitting the right side of the car he wasn't racing hard enough. Well the car is pretty clean except for some bumps from the usual racers who can't keep their car smooth but we have to hand it to Brian for a strong 24th place on his rookie start at the famed "to tough to tame" Darlington Raceway. A track that saw a lot of crashed in qualifying (Jimmie Johnson) and practice.

Hats off to you Brian! We get a much deserved weekend off but then it's off to Lowes Motor Speedway and it's a big run of over 15 weeks of non stop weekends of racing. Get the suitcase packed and ready to go!

See you at the Track!

Richmond Results

After our first race as a locked in car for the season, we had a much lower qualifying car than before but the result was a stronger race car for the long haul.
Qualifying in the 38th positon, Brian advanced 17 positions and finished 21st moving him up 2 more positions in the standings to 25th and moving the car up to 29th in the owners points. Heading to Darlington Raceway this weekend for another Friday night race, the team is looking pretty strong and confident that they'll be able to put a great race car together and have another solid consistent finish that will keep Brian and the car moving up in the standings.
The 2XL trailer was in full support this weekend as well with a display at the Baja MX Loretta Lynn Qualifier in Millville MI. Moto fans came out and checked out the NASCAR support trailer, watched videos and got the hook up on all the new 2XL gear. Keep updated here for the 2XL Trailer tour schedule coming to a town near you soon!

See you all in Darlington.

Phoenix Speedway

After a hard fought run at qualifying Brian Keselowski powered the #26 2XL - Slednecks -Schweitzer Title Dodge into the final qualifying spot for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Driving a new car with little seat time to get used to the new ride, Brian who came off of a great qualifying run at Nashville the week before stepped it up for the team and knew he had to push it as far as he could to make the show. With three other cars bumping ahead of him on owners points Brian had a quick enough time to hang in there.
Starting at the back of the pack and starting the race strong Brian held on and charged up to a 27th place finish. Despite getting down a lap Brian held on and got the lucky dog to get back on the lead lap and having a small fender bender with only a few laps to go Brian kept it clean to hang on with the pack. With only 6 out of the first 7 starts Brian jumps up another 4 spots to move up to 32nd in the standings and the #26 car now sits only 2 spots out of the elusive top 30 in owners points.
With next weekend moving to the famed Talladega Speedway, Brian is looking strong having the super speedway experience on his side with a top 25 in the opening race of the season at Daytona International Speedway. The car is being prepped and the motor put in this week, look for a strong run “Ricky Bobby” style as Brian heads to Talladega!

Nashville Roundup

Well the trip to Nashville was a pretty good one. Both cars, the #26 2XL Dodge and the #96 Dodge made it into the show. Brian stepped over to the #96 for this race showing his maturity knowing that the team needed to get the car into the owners points since Dennis Setzer was faster with the 26 in practice. Well in true Brian fashion he went out in the #96 car and out qualified Dennis by running a 30.048 to Dennis' 30.063! Way to go Brian, when you put a fire under him he gets rolling!
Dennis ran the entire race, Brian came in with handling issues on the car and sat on the pit box for Dennis the rest of the race. Dennis finished the #26 in 20th place and brought the car within 5 spots of the locked in top 30 in owners points.
On some other news for the race, Nashville was the debut venue for the 2XL, Slednecks, Nitro Circus vending trailer. I would say that the headphones were a hit and the fans loved the Nitro Circus and Slednecks videos that were playing all day. The most common fan question of the day? "Do you all know Hubert?". It seems that Hubert - Americas favorite redneck - from Nitro Circus grew up not far from the venue and we met quite a few of his neighbors, friends and relatives.
All in all the race was a success for the team and we look forward to another great weekend at Phoenix!
See you all there!

Bob, Dennis and Brian talk shop while Brad (Brians younger brother) tries to get some pointers haha!

Rob wonders why he has been holding this tire all day for Bob

Dennis tells Bob that he needs his hat on or he has to find a comb......Brad and Brian keep quiet.....

Texas Updates and more

Sorry for the lack of posting here the last week or so. We have been busy geing ready for Texas and at the same time packing everything up for the road from there to Nashville, Phoenix and then to Talledega with Richmond right after that! Wheew! This is going to be a long haul for us. We are on for a 6 week stretch on the road, all of us packed in the motorhome but hopefully we'll get a few hotels in here or there.

Going into Texas this is the final race where the owners points are set from last year. Curently we are sitting 34th in owners points and we need to be up a little to be locked in for guaranteed strting spots. That will take a lot of pressure off the team and will allow us to work on a more "race ready" car as opposed to a qualifying car. It makes a huge difference when you are setting up a car for qualifying just to make the race, then the car is in lock down until the race and you cannot change anything. Hopefully Texas will put us in a great position.

Other news is pretty good, we will be debuting the 2XL, Slednecks, Nitro Circus vending trailer at Nashville. Along with all the goodies from those sponsors you can just hang out at the trailer and listen to some great tunes and check out some of the crazy antics of Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus crew. Make sure you check out their show on MTV when you get a chance.
Our new sponsor, 2XL will have all the coolest headphones for you to buy at the track and you can use them to listen to you scanner and take them home for some cool kickin't headphones to listen to your ipod or Zune or whatever you have!

Make sure you stop by and remember when you buy something from the 2XL trailer you are supporting the team 100%, we run our own operation to support the team so every bit helps and thanks for your support!

Here are some links to check out.

Fontana Race Recap

Fontana was a success of sorts, K-Auto was able to get both cars into the show with Brian qualifying in the 31st position and finishing 29th. Had a bit of a hard run, actually running out of gas in the early part of the race but they managed to keep the car clean and move on to finish the race putting the #26 Dodge in 26th position in the owners points.
Dennis setzer quailifed the # 96 Dodge in 21st position finishing the race in 42nd having to pull off with problems with the car.
The team will try to qualify both cars again for Las Vegas and will continue to push to get the #26 locked into the top 30 in owners points guaranting the car into each race based on owners points and not having to qualify on speed.
Things are looking good and the team is staying positive for the season, once the car is locked in they can concentrate on a more competitive race set up with the car and compete at the front of the pack where Brian and the team deserves to be.

Here are some links to photos of the race.

Daytona Success!!!

So the K-Auto crew had a successful weekend in Daytona, Brian qualified mid pack and finished the race in 25th place despite getting spun out in a turn and flattening his tires. Brian came back and kept in the race to outrun some of the best competition in the series. Daytona is always a gamble and you can easily get caught up in the big one but Brian stayed clean and is well on his way to securing the # 26 car in the top 30 in owners points. If he is in the top 30 after the first 5 races that will secure the car a guaranteed starting spot and will allow the team to concentrate on getting the car "race ready" and not just set up for qualifying. This will make Brian and the car more of a threat to the big boys than ever. We'll get some pictures posted soon and Brian is already in California now gettin ready for the Fontana race.
Big thanks to Cajun Industries who stepped up at the last minute to help Brian in Daytona with some sponsor dollars, Cajun has been helping a lot of drivers in different series and we thank them for their support in Daytona.

Already in Daytona

Brian had some practice sessions in Daytona on Thursday, ran pretty good too!
First Practice session Brian was 30th and second session he was 36th.
Having to qualify on speed Brian is looking pretty good since a lot of the other drivers that have to qualify on speed are way behind Brian. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for him as we head into qualifying!
Here are some more shots of the car before it left for Daytona with the new graphics.
